A Healthier Business

Last weekend, we had another successful corporate wellness class about Healthy Snacks Ideas with Spanish speaking Nutritionist Gaby Gonzalez. We discussed the importance of incorporating a variety of healthy snacks that are balanced, fiber and protein rich, mininally processed, low sodium, clean label, and nutritious to keep energy levels stable and avoid crashes later in the day.

Business Network International

I recently was introduced to a networking group called BNI (Business Network International) by my friend George Papacalos and Kent Lai where business owners support and help each other to grow their businesses. I was able to meet so many experts from different background and people opened so many doors for me in unexpected ways. I did my first featured presentation this week. Thanks @danamariehairstylista for supporting me by coming early to the venue and doing my hair and thanks @andyluphotos for capturing some wonderful photos and portraits. I was also surprised that I got the most 1-on-1 and tied with another member for bringing the most visitor last month. Looking forward to getting to know the rest of the member more and grow our businesses together.

Client Review in Yelp

Our client David struggled with his weight and asked help from us. He was glad having someone who listened to his concerns and taught him about making good choices to stay healthy. After the program, he has changed his mindset about food and realized that it’s about making good choices, not just eating less. He’s thankful for the program because he has lost weight and learned new mindset and increased veggie intake.

Legacy Tribe Meet Up

Attended the Legacy Tribe event at Bedros Keuilian’s ranch in Temecula yesterday. Got a ton of value from all 3 coaches: Bedros Keuilian , Bryce Henson, and Jason Redman . We were able to hang out with Tarzan and feed rescue animals and play with reptiles, learned how to clear a building, and some survival skills.
My biggest takeaway:
-Never just survive, always THRIVE!
-Instead of choosing the path of LEAST RESISTANCE (human nature), choose the path of GROWTH!
-I didnt come this far to ONLY come this far!
-Rigid on the vision, flexible on the details
-Be passionate and have unreasonable expectations
-Finding Core Value for both Business and Personal

Experiencing the Activator Method

Since my ankle was still swollen from twisting it back in Nov in Hong Kong, I decided to have my friend Dr Ted Marriott take a look. Dr Marriott is a chiropractor specializing in the gentle Activator method without any cracking. It was crazy how he found my misalignment or the discrepancy of my leg length and was able to fix it instantly. He also told me that my misalignment was caused by crossing my ankle.
Dr. Marriott has been treating patients for a variety of conditions and symptoms, including neck pain, back pain, headaches, spinal pain, joint pain in the arms and legs, TMJ/TMD, osteoarthritis, sciatica, pinched nerves, referred pain, frozen shoulder, muscular pain and imbalance, carpal tunnel symptoms, and auto injuries including whiplash. He also provides wellness care to help promote and maintain optimal health.

Did You Know?

Many of us might think that following a plant-based diet doesn’t give us enough protein, but that’s not true at all. It is possible to get over 100g of proteins a day by incorporating foods like organic sprouted tofu, pumpfu, fava tofu, lentils, edamame, and tempeh. They are not only delicious but also minimally processed, full of protein, fiber, vitamins, and minerals, and they’re low in saturated fats and cholesterol.
If you have high cholesterol, try incorporating some of these proteins in your diet. Plus, they’re great for your heart, help you keep a healthy weight, and support your overall wellness.

Last weekend, we taught another Spanish Corporate wellness class about Eating Out Tips with Spanish speaking Nutritionist David Londono. We emphasized the importance of planning ahead, knowing what’s in our food, practicing portion control, incorporating veggies, and making healthier choices when dining out to support our well-being.

Improved Gut Health

Before joining the program, my client Michael was dealing with a bloated gut and indigestion, feeling uncomfortable and frustrated. That’s why he decided to reach out to A Healthier You Journey, and turned out to be one of the best decisions he has ever made for his health.
He was very glad that I was able to identify the culprit behind his digestive issues surprisingly quickly. It turned out to be a particular food that was wreaking havoc on his gut. After he started to eliminate it from his diet, he felt an immediate improvement.

Did You Know?

Sugar has different names. Manufacturers can use various sugar names, including less familiar ones, to trick consumers. They may also use small amounts of several types of sugars, so you definitely want to look at the ingredient list. “Healthy” sugars like agave nectar or honey are still considered added sugars. Just because the sugar is organic, it is still sugar.
Check everyday products like cereals, granola bars, bread, yogurts, and ready-to-use sauces for hidden sugars. Don’t be swayed by health claims; sometimes low fat or nonfat products might be higher in sugar. Awareness is key, and the less ultra-processed foods you consume, the less label reading you’ll need to do.

Packed with fresh colorful herbs and vegetables, it’s a nutrient-rich meal that supports digestion, boosts immunity, and promotes overall well-being. Treat yourself to a delicious meal that’s as good for your body as it is for your taste buds!

Choose your path wisely…

Most people want to look for quick fixes such as popping a pill, getting a shot, or doing bariatric surgery instead of doing the hard work such as changing their lifestyle, focus on nourishing their body & prioritizing exercising. While medicine and surgery have their place, they usually don’t address the root cause, they might just temporarily mask the problems. After all, everyone deserves to enjoy a healthy body.

Philippians 4:6

However, the timeless advice from Philippians encourages us to entrust our worries to a higher power, seeking solace through prayer and expressing gratitude even in challenging circumstances.
Moreover, having a supportive guide can be instrumental in navigating the complexities of stress management. Whether it’s a friend, family member, or a mentor, having someone to share your concerns and provide valuable insights can make the journey toward a healthier life more meaningful and sustainable.

Did You Know?

White and brown rice contain similar amounts of carbohydrates, but differ in fiber content and glycemic index (GI). While white rice is often associated with higher GI levels, not all varieties exhibit this trait; for instance, Basmati rice is a lower GI option. Despite GI differences, the quantity consumed remains crucial. Maintaining awareness of rice varieties and portion sizes contributes to a healthier lifestyle.
Regardless of GI, portion control is crucial. Understanding these factors supports informed dietary choices and can help stabilize blood sugar, promote sustained energy, aid weight management, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases like diabetes and obesity.

Managed Blood Sugar, Blood Pressure, and Cholesterol

The daughter of my client was very happy that with my guidance, I was able to help her mom adopt healthier eating habits, successfully managed blood sugar, blood pressure, and cholesterol.
Before joining A Healthier You Journey, her mom, she was told by the Doctor to just don’t eat rice and noodle, which are the staple foods for a Chinese person. That’s why she is starving all the time but when she sneaked in some carbs, then her blood sugar skyrocketed and she is scared. I showed her what type of food she can eat and how much. After the program, her blood sugar is well managed and she feels satisfied after eating, and her kidney function is preserved.
